Ok so this is going to be a rant!!
Every Wednesday Night I have choir practice at church. I enjoy choir practice, because I love to sing, and I like the fact that we sing really hard songs. I'm weird like that! One thing about choir practice I don't like is that after we practice we do a prayer request time and then we pray. I usually get up and leave at this point. Don't get me wrong, I don't do it because I don't care about people, and I don't want to pray. It's just that I turns into a session of my prayer request is better than yours. It's like people feel like they have to say some sort of prayer request during this time. Not only do they think that they have to have a request, but they have to go into great detail about how their tooth hurts. With the whole choir feeling the need to have a request and going into great detail, it ends up being a 45 minute prayer request time, and not to mention they haven't prayed yet to dismiss. So our choir practice starts at 6:00 and we sing until 7:30/7:45. Then it's Prayer request time. I sorry, but I want to go home! I haven't seen my wife or child all day, I want to spend time with them before it's time to go to bed. And I'm not joking about the tooth thing that has been a request before!! I also love the ones about "Oh I stumped my big toe today, please pray that it will stop throbbing! What happened was this, I was walking in the living room by the couch, and I bent over to pick up a towel and when I started walking again I hit my toe. I didn't have shoes on because they got muddy when I was outside watering the yard. It has been so dry here lately, Please pray that we get rain soon" BLAH BLAH BLAH... then the next person starts, "Well I need to go to the dentist, My tooth has been bothering me..." and so on and so on. Or when they mentions someone's name and then they go into who they are related to, married to, who their children are, I mean we get a whole family tree, and who all their neighbors are.
The funny thing is that I sit in the middle in the very front, so I have to get up and walk in front of everyone to leave. HAHA I'm sorry I just can't take it. If I happen to stay, because I can't escape and I do have a prayer request. It's short and sweet, "Please pray for me I start a new job on Monday." No other details are mentioned. If they want to know more they can ask me when it's all over, one on one.
Ok, I'm done. I know Lisa will get a kick out of this, because we talk about it a lot. I would also like to say that I am not the only one that think that people just share to much, because I'm friends with the pianist, and we look at each other and she waves her hand in the motion to wrap it up to me.

LOL. Keith. TOO funny. And I LOVED the mental picture of the choir director, front & center, asking, "Does anyone have any prayer requests tonight?", and YOU, ALSO front & center, standing up & leaving! You know, after you're gone, they probably say, "We need to all pray for Keith, because he OBVIOUSLY doesn't believe in prayer!" HAHAHAHAHA! OH, I crack myself up!!
P.S. Isn't it fun to have a place to rant sometimes?!
LOL... That is funny I never thought of that! Maybe I should just stick it out... NO not going to happen!! It's funny because when I leave I walk by the Pianist and she sticks her lips out at me!! hehe
And yes this is a great place to rant. I can't wait for Lisa to get home so she can read this blog!!
OH Lisa just read this and reminded me of a great prayer request that was mentioned in our choir practice. Picture this, a short little old lady, "Please pray for my daughter, You know she's married to a black guy!!" Ok so you know you live in DEVILLE (home of the KKK) when people say things like that in their choir practice. LOL
HAHAHA!!! So what did she want yall to pray about?! That she'd leave him or something?! That is SO funny!
Girl, you know I wasn't paying attention to the real reason. I was to busy laughing!
HAHAHA! yeah, i can imagine that, keith!!
I also love when people use prayer request time to spread gossip about other people. It is the perfect time to tell a large group of people the latest gossip but in a "holy" way!
i agree with anonymous brooke-ra!
Hahahaha!!! Oh my gosh, this totally reminds me of when we were in kindergarten and everybody tried to top each other with their prayer request. I once couldn't think of anything so I made up this story about how a man's cow got out onto my grandpa's yard and my grandpa was going to sue the man. It doesn't even make sense now! Of course, this is much better than when my friend Mary told our GA's teacher to pray for her mom because her mom was pregnant. It spread really quickly and her mom was NOT pregnant!!!
