Well it is starting to look like our house will be open to family and friends next week at this time. It's that wonderful time of year again Hurricane Season. As most of you know my family is from Houma, La. and it looks like Hurricane Gustav is heading straight for them. The projected path has it going to Morgan City, which is not good for Houma, and especially not good for my parents in Dulac. With the hurricane hitting on the left of Houma that means that it is going to push the tide in, which means flooding!! Katrina didn't affect Houma that much because it hit Houma on the right. All of their damage came from Rita. The water was 6 inches from getting into my parents house (which is off the ground already).
Please pray for my family and friends. Especially for my Mom. She is getting really upset. For Rita her school flooded, and she lost 20 years of stuff, and a lot of personal things in her classroom that belonged to Lynette and me when we were growing up. For over two years they were so busy trying to help the community re-grow. She was just completely tired. Hopefully the hurricane will just die down.

Yeah, we are all sitting on go, because if a hurricane shelter opens up here, we (Dept of Social Services) have to work at them. Janie has her reservations booked @ my house, if needed! I will say a prayer for your family, especially your mom!
Lindsay, I'm so happy you read my blog, it makes me feel soo good. I am really trying to write in it everyday if I can. Thanks for the prayers for my family.
I LOVE your blog, Keith! I'm glad I read it too! And I'm glad you write in it! (I think Emily Raney needs one, too.)
Dulac? Isn't that where Jodie is from? Did you know her "way back when"?
This morning our local weather guy said that the hurricane (now a tropical storm again) "isn't where it's supposed to be." I didn't realize they had to follow a specific pattern... Anyway, now it looks like it may hit more to the west of earlier predicitons. I don't know my south Louisiana geography very well (and I used to teach LA history...), but is that better or worse for your family? I'll keep them in my prayers.
Yes, Jody and I grew up together. We went to church together!! I like to take credit for her going to TECH!! hehe.
Well it depends on how far west it hits. Actually hitting West is worse for them because it pushes the tide waters in which causes flooding. Hopefully it will just dissolve.
Thank you, Keith, for swaying Jody towards Tech!! She made college so much more fun!!
